Tourist Attractions in Natore

Natore district is an administrative area of Rajshahi division of northwestern Bangladesh. The district is bounded by Naogaon, Bogra, Pabna, Sirajganj and Rajshahi.

Until 1821, Natore was the administrative office of Rajshahi district. The subdivision of Natore was established in 1845, and the Natore Municipality was established in 1869. In 1984, it got the status of a full District.

Since ancient times, this district has become a unique part of Bengal in art, culture, and civilization.

From the Mughal rule, Natore became one of the main centers of Bengal's power. Under the direct supervision of Subedar Murshid Quli Khan (1701-1772 AD), Varendri Brahman Raghu Nandan established the Natore estate in the name of his younger brother Ramjivan. Raja Ramjivan Roy is the founder of Natore dynasty.

The Kings of Natore used to manage this vast estate in its own administrative management. During Nawabi rule, they had the power to prosecute their own civil and criminal cases. They had their own police force and prisons to maintain law and order. In 1873, the British government took over the police force and prison from the landlord of Natore. The first jail in Bengal operated by the English is established in Natore.

Dighapatia Rajbari or Uttara Ganobhaban: It is about 2.5 km away from Natore city. It was the residence of Dighapatia King. It is currently being used as the Government House of North Bengal which is known as Uttara Ganobhaban.

Natore Palace: It is located in Natore Sadar sub-district which is a memorial of Natore dynasty. The palace is also known as Pagla Rajar Palace, which was used as the residence of the king and his family. 

Other attractions: Youth Park, Chalan Beel, Bagatipara's Dayarampur Palace, Museum of Chalanbil, Shahid Sagar (Gopalpur), Budhpara Kali temple.
