Tourist Attractions in Lakshmipur

Lakshmipur District is an administrative region of Chittagong division, which is famous for its politics and economy. It is located in the southeastern part of Bangladesh and is surrounded by Bhola on the west, Chandpur on the north, Noakhali on the east, and the Bay of Bengal on the south.

There are many different stories behind the naming of the district. It is said that there was a village called 'Lakshmipur' on the west side of Banchanagar and Sankarabad village. The district could be named after this village. Again, some historians say that the district was named after the first son of the landlord of Dalal Bazar Lakshmi Narayan Roy. It is believed that Lakshmipur was named after him.

Lakshmipur was established as a sub-district in 1860. The current district was formed on February 28, 1984.

There are historical places, mosques, and shrines in Lakshmipur, that are interesting places for tourists. 

Ramgati is a wonderful place in this district and a fantastic spot for nature lovers. On the western side of the Ramgati Bazar, the river Meghna falls into the Bay of Bengal. The natural scenery is very pleasant here. Tourists can enjoy exciting scenes of fishing from this riverside fishing point. 

Other than the natural sites, there are some historic sites located in this district. Some of the main historic sites are - Dalal Bazar landlord’s palace, Sahapur Saheb Palace, Thoa Sagar Pond, Kamala Sundari pond, and Tita Khan Mosque.

This region has a long history of pottery. There are several villages where people make their living by pottery. Visiting these villages and watching their work is also an interesting event in this district. Many villagers in Lakshmipur Central, Ramgonj, Raipur, and Ramgati run this handicraft.
