Bangladesh National Museum
Bangladesh National Museum, located at Shahbagh area in Dhaka, has very noticeable architectural design in its four-storied building. The area of this building is 20 thousand square meters, which has more than 83 thousand patterns in 46 galleries. It is the largest museum not only in Bangladesh but also in South Asian countries.
The first floor of the museum is seemed to be a small version of the whole of Bangladesh. A giant map of Bangladesh is placed on the 1st floor. You will see also see a miniature version of trees, animals, Sundarbans, the lifestyle of the tribes, minerals, coins and various sculptures of the ancient period of Bangladesh.
On the second floor of the building, you will see the evolution of civilization and the history of Bangladesh. This floor is decorated with various kinds of weapons, musical instruments, porcelain handicrafts, cottage industries, manuscripts, contemporary art of ancient Bangladesh.
Apart from this, the third floor of the building has many paintings and world-class portraits of various celebrities in the world.
To get knowledge about Bangladesh, the museum could be a suitable place. The national museum in Bangladesh has a library which has a collection of an estimated of 30 thousand to 40 thousand books. This library has also been playing a special role in research in various fields. Apart from this, there is a Museum Auditorium, which is used for various workshops, seminars or meetings.
Usually, the National Museum is open from 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm every day except Thursdays and Fridays. The two days opening hour is 3:30 pm to 7:00 pm for visitors.
Ticket price: It is 5 taka for children and 10 taka for adults. For the foreigners, it is 75 BDT. On national days like Pahela Baishakh, independent day, victory day or mather language day, children and students have free access.

This is the biggest museum I have visited so far in Bangladesh. It has a huge collection of artifacts. However, I visited the museum when I was a kid. A good place to learn about the history and heritage of Bangladesh and the sub continent.
