Shah Jalal (Rh) Mazar Sharif

Hazrat Shahjalal (R) was a famous saint in the subcontinent. He was the most famous Islam preacher in Sylhet region. It is heard that, Sheikh Burhanuddin was the first Muslim in Sylhet. He was oppressed by Raja Gaur Govind. Hearing this Hazrat Shahjalal (R) and his traveling companion 360 saints arrived in Sylhet, which is a significant event in the history of our country. That is why Sylhet is called the holy land of 360 Awliya. 

Majar Sharif (shrine) of Hazrat Shahjalal (R) is a very sacred place for all, so it is not used to attract the tourists. As the Majar Sharif is a holy place, there is a restriction of going inside the Majar sharif without proper modest clothes. So, if you intend to go inside the majar sharif you must wear conservative dresses.

There are many things to observe in the area of Shah Jalal (Rh) Mazar Sharif. Everything is specially related to Hazrat Shah Jalal (R). There is a pond on the north side of the Majar complex of Hazrat Shahjalal (R). There are numerous Gazar fishes in this pond. Hazrat Nizamuddin Awliya (R) welcomed him with a pair of Surma-colored pigeons named as ‘jalali kabutar' as a beacon of love for the recognition of his spiritual power. A lot of these pigeons are seen flying in the majar area now. No one hunts them in respect of Hazrat Shahjalal (R). Even the majar authorities provide food for these pigeons.

There is a small house in the south of the Majar which is called Hazrat Shahjalal's Chilla khana. The house is just two feet wide. It is said that Hazrat Shahjalal spent 23 years of his life in this Chilla khana.

There are also many used things of Hazrat Shah Jalal (R) which are now open to see for the visitors. These include his used sword, clog, plates and bowl etc. Every day the numerous people from the different parts of the country, even from abroad gather in the Majar complex for the ziarat of the Shah Jalal (Rh) Mazar Sharif.
