Sherpur is a district under Mymensingh division of Bangladesh. It is surrounded by Meghalaya of India on the north, Jamalpur on the south and west, and Mymensingh on the east.
From 1829 to 2015, it belonged to Dhaka Division. It was a subdivision of Jamalpur district until 1984 and was upgraded to the district on 22 February 1984.
Sherpur region was under the kingdom of Kamrupa in ancient times. During the reign of Mughal Emperor Akbar, this area was known as 'Dashkahniya Baju.' At the beginning of the seventeenth century, Gazi of Bhawal occupied Dashkahniya areas from the descendants of Isa Khan. It was later named Sherpur after the name of Sher Ali Ghazi, the last landlord of the Gazi dynasty.
Sherpur District is rich in various natural resources. It is one of the potential districts of Bangladesh, based on natural beauty, agricultural production, cheap labor, geographical location and mineral resources.

Madhutila Eco-Park: The location of Madhutila Eco-Park is in the PoraGaon union of Nalitabari sub-district. Madhutila is a border sub-district in Sherpur, is presented with natural beauty with small hills and forest.

Directions to Go
Sherpur is located about 198 kilometers (123.03 miles) north of the country's capital Dhaka. It takes about four and half hours by bus/car to reach Sherpur from Dhaka. There is no direct rail connection to Sherpur, but it can be reached by train via Jamalpur which is 2-hour drive away.
