Rajbari district belongs to Dhaka Division, containing an area of 1204 sq km. Neighboring districts are Pabna on the north, Faridpur and Magura on the south, Manikganj on the east and Kushtia and Jhenaidah on the west. The major rivers of this district are Padma, Garai, Harai and Chandana.
There is no doubt that Rajbari has been named after any king's house. But there is no specific historical information that when and after which king's name of the palace has been named.
The present Rajbari district was under different zones at different times. When the British East India Company took the tenancy of Bengal, Bihar, and Orissa in 1765, this region was under Rajshahi estate. Rajbari was included in the Faridpur district in 1811. Rajbari was transformed into the district on 1st March 1984, when all the sub-divisions of Bangladesh were declared as districts.
The Economy of Rajbari district is based on agricultural. The area produces rice, jute, wheat, sugarcane, onion, tobacco and pulses. Although the district is not industrially developed, it has a remarkable contribution to the agriculture of Bangladesh.

Mir Mosharraf Hossain Memorial Center: Mir Mosharraf Hossain was a famous novelist in Bangladesh. He created the epic Bangla novel 'Bishad Shindhu' which is a great contribution in the Bengali literature.
Rajbari Railway station: Rajbari Railway Station was established in 1890. It is one of the oldest rail stations of Bangladesh.
Some other attractions of this region are Rajbari Government High School's red building, the Shrine of Shah Pahloan, Neelkuthi, Daulatdia wharf, etc.

Directions to Go
Rajbari is well connected by road and rail from Dhaka. The distance from Dhaka is about 110 km. It takes around four and half hours to reach Rajbari from Dhaka by bus/car. There is no direct train available from Dhaka, but it is accessible via Poradaha rail station of Kushtia district.
