Rabindranath Tagore's Shilaidaha Kuthibari
The poet's house is located in Shilaidah, an area in Kumarkhali sub-district. Rabindranath spent a remarkable time in his youth here. Padma River flows by the side of this house.
Rabindranath Tagore's grandfather Prince Dwarkanath was assigned landlord of this region in 1807. Later in 1889 Rabindranath Tagore came here as a landlord. Here he managed the estate administration till 1901. He wrote some of his famous books such as Sonar Tori, Chitra, Chaitali, Gitanjali, etc. while staying in this house.
