Baldha Garden is the green heaven of Dhaka. Crossing the Rajdhani Super Market, if you walk to Hatkhola road for five minutes, you will find Nawab Street in Wari of old Dhaka. Here is the Baldha Garden located. 

The wide road will be seen after entering the garden. There are countless species of native and foreign trees on both sides of the road. This is the garden full of birds and trees of various kinds. It seems like a green heaven in the chest of the capital city of Bangladesh.

It is known that, in 1909, the work of establishing this garden was started by Narendra Narayan Roy Chaudhury, the Zamindar of Baldha Estate. Initially, the country's rare Saplings, bushy domestic plants, Orchids and Cactus were planted there. He named this part as 'Saiki' which means 'spirit'. In 1936, he used more 3.8 acres of land for the proliferation of plants in this part. And he named this part as 'Sibley' which means 'Goddess of Nature'.

Currently, there are about eighteen thousand plants of eight hundred species, consisting of domestic and foreign plants in this garden. Among them, some are very rare plants. There is a large reserve of Orchid plants inside the garden. Various species of aquatic plants are found here that include Shapala, Nilapadma, Yellow Shapla, Kachuripana and lovely Amazon Lily. Lily flowers are very interesting to watch that blooms in the evening.

There is a Cactus house which has a variety of charming cactus trees. There is also a huge collection of rare palm trees in the garden. There are all kinds of trees, shrubs, herbs and cosmetic plants in Baldha garden. A plenty of rare trees like Saradmallika, Latajoba, Kananga, Kanak Sudha, Kantak Lata, Papyrus, Dhupgach, White Shimul, Hing, Uvaria, Rupelia, Cordia, Anjan, Garshinga, Accrakarpas, Port Landia, Ollia etc are found here.

The Baldha Garden is open every day of the week. It is Open daily from 8 am to 5 pm. But there is a break at noon from 12 pm – 2 pm. Ticket price is only 15/= per person. The ticket is not required for the children aged 2 years or less.
