Tourist Attractions in Chuadanga

The location of Chuadanga district is on the southwestern border of the country under the Khulna division. The Tropic of Cancer has crossed over this district in Jibanagar police station at 23.39-degree latitude and 88.49 degrees east longitude.

Previously it belonged to the greater Kushtia district. Before the partition of India, it belonged to the Nadia District of West Bengal.

Chuadanga was ruled by the Sen Dynasty of Vallal Sen (1160-1787). In 1281, Delhi's Sultan Ghiyasuddin defeated the strong governor of Bengal Mughisuddin Toughari, and took control of the whole of Bengal including Chuadanga. Until 1414, the Chuadanga district was included in the rule of the Sultans. 

In 1576, when the Daud Karrani was defeated and killed by the Mughal forces, Bengal came under the Mughal rule. In 1695, Zamindar Shobha Singha of Madenipur and Rahim Khan, an Afghan sovereign, took possession of arms against the Mughal king in southwestern Bengal. They were able to drive the Mughal army away from Chuadanga along with South-West Bengal. 

After the Palashi tragedy in Bengal in 1757, the Bengal went under British company rule. The company rule was abolished in Bengal and the British government took control of this region in 1858. On 16 February 1984, Chuadanga was upgraded to a district.

This district is directly connected by road and rail from Dhaka and other nearby regions. The distance between Dhaka and Chuadanga is about 215km. It takes about seven and hours to reach Chuadanga by road from Dhaka. Bangladesh Railway operates train services between these destinations including other districts of north Bengal. There is no airport in Chuadanga. The nearest airport is located in Jessore which is about 82km south of the district.
