Museum of Rajas
Museum of Rajas is mostly known as Hasson Raza's Museum. It is located in Zindabazar area at the center of Sylhet. The residence of renowned spiritual poet and singer Hasson Raza is currently being used as a museum. The purpose of this museum is to preserve the memory of Hasson Raza and his family. This museum inspires the research activities on folk culture and its history.
Hasson Raza is a folk poet and creator of many popular Bengali folk songs like 'Baula ke banailo ray', 'Kande Hasson Razar's Monia re', 'Loke bole bole re Ghor bari vala na amar', 'Sona bondhe amare dewana banailo', 'Nisha Lagilo Re' etc. The museum is being maintained under the supervision of the educationist Dewan Talibur Raza Trust. Dewan Talibur is the grandson of Hasson Raza. The museum is decorated with the folk songs and poems of Hasson Raza.
At the entrance of the museum, there is a portrait of Lalon Shah, who is the pioneer of the folk and spiritual song in this region. Then Hasson Raza's picture is seen. This is the only one photograph of Hasson Raza in the museum. It has been collected from a studio in Kolkata in 1962. Apart from this, there are eight or nine paintings of different folk artists of different times.
Among the used household things of Hasson Raza, chair, colorful cloak, water purifying pot, sword, clay pot etc. are exhibited in the museum. In addition to the above items, you will see a collection of Hasson Raza's tea table, milk pot, bowl, wooden sticks, self-written music etc. In fact, the museum has been kept alive by Hasson Raza's various used household things that carry his memory.
