Shashi Lodge
Soshi Lodge in Mymensingh, Bangladesh, is a historical landmark that stands as a testament to the city's rich heritage. Constructed during the British colonial era, the building's unique blend of colonial and traditional Bengali architecture makes it a prominent landmark in the region and one of the finest examples of its kind in Bangladesh.
Soshi Lodge was originally built as a residence for the wealthy industrialist Shashi Kumar Ray. The grand two-storied palace was named after Ray's adopted son, Shoshikanta Acharya Chowdhury. After Ray's passing, the building was later donated to the government of East Pakistan and used as a government office for many years.
In recent times, Soshi Lodge has undergone extensive restoration and has been transformed into a museum, showcasing its rich history and cultural significance. Visitors can explore the building's two stories and marvel at its stunning architecture and design, including the grand hall with a timber floor, the elaborate glass chandeliers, and the beautifully decorated doors and windows. The lodge sits on an impressive nine acres of land, featuring an old pond and a two-storied bathing pavilion made from marble stone.
